Metal Extrusions

Metal extrusion is the process of pushing metal through a die that reforms the material into a new cross-sectional geometry. Force is applied to the raw metal (often in bar or rod form) to change the shape via extrusion and then a simple cutting process is performed to create individual parts. The extrusion process can be done continuously to produce very long parts or semi-continuously to produce larger quantities of parts. Metal extrusion is a staple of Rotaloc’s wide manufacturing capabilities as parts with very complex cross-sections can be produced that would be very difficult to reproduce in other processes. Brittle materials, which are often problematic in manufacturing, can be formed via extrusion since no tensile stresses are introduced during production.
